LIFE HACK OR SHORTCUT?
It’s fashionable at the moment to hack your nutrition, hack your sleep, hack your brain, hack your workouts and even hack your coffee in order to gain the maximum possible benefit for the minimum possible effort.
Some of these hacks are fascinating, and have potential. Tim Ferris’ Four Hour Body is a great read for examples of things you can do to drastically speed up your physical development – funnily enough CrossFit Endurance and Mobility Wod feature strongly in there……
Now sure, it's cool to try and get the most bang for your buck, hey CrossFit is the most exercise bang for your buck you can get. But the quest for hack after hack after hack, somehow makes me think of shortcuts........ which suddenly seem all too close to infomercial ab machines and diet pills.
Constantly trying to find a loophole, means constantly missing a chance to improve. If there is always a part of you that hopes there is a better way, you will never truly commit 100% to the way you are currently doing things. There is maybe a bit of grass is greener in that attitude…..
Finally, let’s not forget how rewarding the struggle can be.
“Sometimes, struggles are exactly what we need in our life. If we were to go through our life without any obstacles, we would be crippled. We would not be as strong as what we could have been. Give every opportunity a chance, leave no room for regrets.”
